He's far more dangerous, but in a different way.
Just a quick note for folks who have not yet voted and have not yet made up their minds. You’ve seen clearly for the last couple of months that Donald, although still amusing in a dark way, is increasingly unable to function. It’s not your imagination.
Keep in mind that a vote for Donald is almost certainly a vote for JD Vance, and we don’t know who he is.
Trump is predictable in his all-consuming narcissism, and can be turned off his path with a single conversation. But Vance, who is every bit the power-seeking chameleon that Donald is, is not looking constantly in the mirror, and he’s not clinically demented. Even though he’s a rookie, he already knows more about the ways of the capital than his would-be boss does. Granted, that’s a very low bar.
Although he began the game as a “never Trumper,” he now tells us that he is on the “post-liberal right.” That suggests to me that he leans not Republican but totalitarian. He has made it clear—even though his own wife is South Asian from an educated family—that in terms of his politics, Americans are white … and male. He has no idea what women are for except making happy families for heterosexual children. (Watch out for transexuals and “childless cat ladies.” )
